End Times Prophecies
QUESTION: End times prophecies - Are they real?ANSWER:End times prophecies are real and are God's disclosure of what is yet to come. God gave His prophets, including Moses, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Daniel, Jeremiah and John, prophecies of the future.
Prophecies are not predictions - they are divine promises about God's control, rewards, and assurances of final destruction over evil. God told His prophets for example, that the Jews would be forced out of Israel, scattered worldwide, persecuted, and that they would eventually return to Israel. All of these promises have been and are currently being fulfilled.
We need only to look as far as our own history in the 20th century to the present to know this is true. One very important prophecy is that the Jews would regain Israel as a nation. (The Jews had sovereignty over the land of Israel about 3400 years ago up until about 2700 years ago and again in 1948). They have since been returning by the thousands, as God promised.
Many prophecies in the Bible's Old Testament are about a coming Messiah; meaning "anointed one." These are called
Messianic prophecies. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. The name Christ means "one who saves." Those Old Testament Scriptures describe the place, and conditions of His birth and ministry. They also tell us much about the fulfillment of His purpose on earth, including His crucifixion and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus alone fulfilled every prophecy given about Messiah told hundreds of years before Mary's conception.
"End time or latter day" prophecies refer to the time of God's judgement on the evil and rebellion against Him in the world. After a time of worldwide devastation by war, famine and pestilence, the Messiah will conquer Satan and His followers to reign over the world with righteousness and restoration. Christians believe as Jesus promised - He will return for his faithful! Those who know scripture and keep up with current world news know that time is very, very near.
The Bible contains hundreds of prophecies. Some were fulfilled more than 3000 years ago. Others have been fulfilled since then. And many more have found fulfillment or partial fulfillment during the past 200 years. How much clearer can it be? Bible prophecy has proven itself, in this generation alone, to be 100% accurate.
